As part of the refurbishment of a Chelsea townhouse, the project introduces a bespoke curved staircase as the primary architectural intervention. Connecting the ground and lower ground floors, the stair is positioned within a newly defined double-height volume, improving vertical circulation and spatial continuity between levels.
The design resolves a series of complex level changes within the existing structure and was fabricated by specialist metalworkers Millimetre. The wider refurbishment also included a new kitchen, sliding doors to the garden and upgraded glazing. Together, these interventions enhance connectivity, light and usability within the house, with the staircase acting as a clear organisational and spatial anchor.
